Check out these pictures I found of one of the sandwich chalkboards I made in front of Zeal Optical in Boulder, Colorado.

pine benches

Here are pictures of two benches I made for a customer in Denver.  They are made of solid pine wood with a natural satin rub finish.

In between filling orders this week, I have been building new book shelves for my studio.  Ultimately the shelves will store frames that I have in stock.  I will continue to post progress pictures on the the shelves.  I plan to paint them the same gray color as my walls and to add some industrial looking lights to the top along with some form of crown moulding.

The shelves are 10 feet wide and will be about 10 feet high also.  I plan to add in additional shelves, but have not determined the layout yet.

large chalkboard prototypes

Here are some of the chalkboard prototypes I have been working that are available for studio pick up only.  The first chalkboard is over 6 feet tall.  Let me know if you are in the Denver area and interested in one.

floating frames for stretched canvases

I recently did several frames for one of my customers and I wanted to show off a particular style frame that I used for this project that is both functional and beautiful. This style is called the floating frame. Listed below are several of the benefits and uses. . .
  1. The floating frame is designed to frame stretched canvases exclusively.
  2. The frame does not cover up any of the edges of the canvas , so the entire piece can be seen.
  3. It gives your canvas a finished look without taking away from the beauty and texture of the natural canvas/painting.
  4. Although the front of the canvas is open, the sides and edges are protected by the edges of the frame and will help keep your artwork from getting dinged up.
Check out some of the after pictures below . . .

Do you have a canvas that feels unfinished and/or needs to be protected? Shoot me an email at the following address, David@DAcustomframes.com. Please include the length, width, and depth of your canvas and I will get back to you quickly with a custom floating frame quote.

Something else to keep in mind, if you would like to order this style frame, but the driftwood gray finish is not for you, I can create your frame with any of the finishes in my shop http://www.DAcustomframes.com

pics in studio

I've been wanting to give you an update on the progress of my studio. I still have a few more walls to add product on, which I will blog about once they are finished.

I built the tables below for the front showroom space. I put both tables on casters so they are easy to move around when working on several frames at a time.

I had to include a picture of the mailbox I made for the front entrance on the outside of the building. I felt the driftwood gray finish was appropriate and it fit right in.

Vertical style frames in Maple

Our vertical frames are now available in maple. Each frame is handcrafted out of solid maple hardwood. These frames are modern and would look very appropriate in a gallery setting. Check them out here
